This wedding season will always be one for the books. So many changes have come about due to the Covid-19 pandemic making our brides and grooms plan, revise, abbreviate, plan again, revise again etc. As wedding planners we stayed on top of the restrictions, in communication with the vendors and venues because our goal is and always will be to make our couples happy.
Once our bride and groom, Jessica and Brian selected the Norfolk Botanical Gardens as their venue, we got to work right away to make sure the restrictions were not deal breakers and that everyone knew what to expect.
The Norfolk Botanical Gardens did a wonderful job of meeting Jessica and Brian’s needs and having cautionary measures in place. The magic of the day was not lost in the restrictions.
The ceremony took place in the beautiful Butterfly Garden, in front of the gazebo on the water. Guests were golf carted out to the Butterfly Garden to wait for the arrival of the wedding party and the couple.
Jessica walked down the aisle wearing an elegant lace dress to stand by the man of her dreams, their best friends at their side. The love that we saw in her eyes seemed to make everything else in the world disappear. Instead of waking down to a traditional bridal chorus song her father walked her down the aisle to Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift, while also picking different songs for her bridal party to walk down to as well. This was such a unique touch that made the ceremony even more personalized to their personalities.
Cocktail hour was outside on the terrace. While the food and bar were inside, a minor restriction to limit the number of guests in the indoor spaces required that actual eating happened outdoors. Additionally, masks were requested to be worn when inside.
With the focus on our bride and groom, relationship, family and friends, none of these requirements slowed the celebration down. We were able to deliver the perfect day for our bride and groom to start their life together.
After the cocktail hour the reception continued on the terrace. People selected their food options inside and carried them outside to the festive atmosphere of celebration. It was beautifully lit with string lights all above the dance floor. The string lights flowed to the guest tables with beautiful greenery surrounding the table numbers.
They envisioned a simple, clean & elegant look which we were able to work with Botanical Gardens to bring to life for them. Having more greenery than florals truly brought it all together and made the couple so happy. One of the best parts of getting ready for the day was being able to decorate the tables to match the vibe of the venue and the vision the bride and groom had.
The traditional speeches from the wedding party were so reminiscent of their life together and full of jokes that made everyone feel like we were a part of the fun they had in their past.
The sentiment that was shared and the connection of relationship that permeated the night echoed the deep friendships that the bride and groom had made. As the night went on Jessica, Brian, and their guests blended their families, connected at the heart and began a new phase of life.
The fun, celebratory vibe on the dance floor kept the celebrations high, right up to the time of bringing the evening to a close.
The night ended with an exciting send off full of love and glow sticks! On their way out the guests grabbed a few glow sticks, formed a send-off line outside of the venue and waited for the newly united man and wife.
Jessica and Brian grabbed a few glow sticks of their own and walked through the line of their friends and family and headed out into their new beginning. One where we’re sure they’ll weather every challenge together, forever!
Working with Jessica and Brian was amazing and we were so lucky to be able to bring their vision to life and make their special day happen even during the covid-19 pandemic.
Congratulations Jessica and Brian! We wish you all the best in your marriage and thank you for including us in this special day!
